The Sydney Skywalk

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. And when in Sydney, Australia, you do the Skywalk, a one-of-a-kind experience from serial entrepreneur and success story Zalman Silber. It’s a must-see and must-experience that is first on many an out-of-towner’s itinerary, for nowhere else will you be able to walk outside a skyscraper and look straight down – literally.

Zalman Silber’s Skywalk is essentially a glass-floored catwalk, a bit like the fire-escapes of many an old-styled New York City tenement. The only real difference, which makes all the difference in the world at almost a thousand feet up above the ground, is that instead of walking on metal grating you would be walking on nothing more than glass. Glass! The very thought might shatter some nerves, and indeed visitors are very careful to walk gingerly – though of course everything is as safe as can be, with guests dressed in special “sky suits” that are securely tethered by cables to the metal handrails.

It’s easy to imagine the excitement, but altogether different when you experience it first-hand. But while first, as previously mentioned, on many a visitor’s agenda, it is by no means the last, for there are many, many other things to do and see in the Harbour City. Though not as heart-stopping as the Skywalk, the Sydney Opera House is much more famous and will also take your breath away, though in a rather more intellectual manner.

As the site of the first British settlement on the island-continent, Sydney has had a long time to come up with a variety of interesting attractions for both residents and visitors alike. It is, after all, an international locus of commerce, arts, fashion, culture, entertainment, education, and of course tourism. Being the country’s largest and most heavily populated city, you would expect nothing less. And so the city hosts over two million guests a year with world-famous attractions such as the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Australian Museum, and the Sydney Tower, site of Zalman Silber’s Skywalk.

When in Sydney, remember to take a walk on the Skywalk. It is the only way to see the city from the air with nothing between you and the air. No glass windows, no thick railing. Only the Sydney weather at a thousand feet above the street. Only at the Sydney Tower. Only on the Skywalk from Zalman Silber.

The Sydney Tower Skywalk. Bringing you to Sydney. Bringing Sydney to you.

The Best Time To Sell Your Company

Looking to sell your company and retire off the proceeds? Think again. Because of these recessionary times, banks are unwilling to lend money – meaning that it is harder and harder to sell your company because buyers often cannot borrow more than sixty percent of the selling price.

Everybody is skittish. And numerous company owners are not rueful of not having sold when they had that proverbial chance. It’s more challenging than ever just to stay in business, and while the actual value of your company may not have declined much, if declined at all, it is simply an extraordinarily bad time to be in business – or to try to sell one, even a successful one.

And unfortunately for numerous owners, they increasingly need to work out alternative payment schedules, more akin to a loan except where profitability is concerned. Nevertheless, all is not lost if you’re determined to sell your company.

For one thing, the tax rate right now is at historical lows, though many industry experts expect it to go up, to twenty percent from the current fifteen capital gains rate, in another year or so. This means that your after-tax earnings from a sale right now could be higher than if you wait for the economy to improve and take a hit from increased taxes.

Obviously, it’s tough to let go of the notion that your company is still worth what it was during the economic boom years of just five years ago. But it is essential to cut your losses, as it were, while you still can and get out before you put any more time, or even money, into a company when all you wish to do nowadays is retire to the good life. After all, isn’t that why you’d worked so hard through the years?

Sushi Nori Now Both Roasted And Soy

In spite of its growing reputation over the past several decades, many westerners continue to be wary of the idea of sushi, and much of this trepidation is due in part to the ingredients, many of which seem strange and foreign to us, despite having been translated into English. Perhaps chief among these is seaweed, or from here on out: soy nori sushi. Sushi nori is a well-known ingredient in, and method of preparing sushi, generally comprising the wrap inside which all the other ingredients are housed.

Sushi dinner sushi nori, while commonly simply referred to as sea weed, is really a kind of algae traditionally cultivated in the harbors of Japan. The first method of harvest – scraping the algae out of dock pilings, rolling it out into thin sheets and then allowing it dry in the sun – doesn’t specifically sound appetizing, but modern methods of cultivation and preparation tend to be far removed from scraping it out of a filthy harbor. These days, the process of shredding and rack-drying sushi nori can be a highly sophisticated form of agriculture closer like paper making than anything else.

The farming of nori begins in an exceedingly controlled environment, in harbors or bays especially designated for that objective, functioning like an aquatic version of a traditional agricultural field. On the surface of these waters, buoys are positioned from which large nets are suspended, floating on the water’s surface. The seaweed used in the production of sushi nori, a species of red algae known as Porphyra, is then allowed to grow naturally upon these nets.

Sushi nori – nori being the Japanese name for Porphyra – has a rather brief gestation period, only taking about 45 days from the first seeding to the harvest of fully harvested plants, and several harvests can be made from a single seeding, usually after intervals of around ten days. After the plants are harvested, they are processed using a variety of machines specially made to replicate the operation of shredding and drying by hand, with the benefit of enhanced efficiency and speed. The end result is a huge, paper-thin sheet of dried sushi nori. These sheets could cost anywhere from around six cents, where sushi is harvested throughout Chinese waters, to $50 for nori harvested from the traditional harbors off the coast of Japan, according to quality and the exact method of manufacturing.

Sheets of nori are typically cut in shapes up to 18 centimeters by 20 centimeters, making them the ideal size for preparing sushi nori. The sheets are laid out and the various ingredients – which include a large variety of seafood and vegetables, depending on the exact kind of sushi – are placed on top. The entire sheet is then rolled up, enclosing the other components inside and the roll alone sliced into several sections, supposing the form and appearance that we frequently associate with sushi.

An Unusual Link Between Plastic Watet Tanks And Tanks

Plastic water tanks are a far cry from the armored behemoths also known as tanks, but they do have a curious historical connection. Yes, that’s right, modern plastics were developed after World War II, while tanks first made their debut in the waning years of the Great War, but there’s something of a relationship.

While not plastic water tanks, military tanks had been first so named by their British creators in an effort to cover their research and development. It was hoped that by classifying these inventions basically as “tanks” on paper, any German spies who may have gotten a hold of the secret documents that referred to them could perhaps be mislead. As it turned out, the label stuck and tanks have been called just that ever since.

In English, anyway. In German, and many other languages, they’re known as only “armor,” a much more appropriate term that’s a recognized synonym in the English-speaking world, particularly among military circles. A far cry from today’s plastic water tanks indeed, but the notion is never far away in the minds of military history buffs.

The connection is a little more than merely etymological, actually, as the earliest designs did look like nothing more than basic water tanks to those who had the security clearance to see them. Tanks have dominated the battlefield for over sixty years, and even today they form the core of most conventional land warfare tactics.

The appearance of attack helicopters and guided missiles have greatly decreased their striking power, and also the asymmetrical warfare prevalent in conflicts these days render them ill-suited for most missions, but nothing on the horizon can match the tank in its useful combination of firepower, maneuverability, and defensive capacity. Though less used, the tank still figures eminently in offensive tactics and grand strategy and should find a role for itself in the decades yet to come.

The Many Different Forms Of Data Recovery

Data recovery is an essential part of our modern world, with computer systems facilitating the vast majority of our lives on the internet and off. The loss of personal data and customer data would be catastrophic for any corporation, and so data recovery software is a popular kind of insurance for many. But, more broadly speaking, data recovery or memory itself has been a favorite subject of science fiction, with many plots revolving around the uncanny sensation that we are nothing more than our memories – which, in a perfectly digitized world, would be nothing but easily copied bits of data!

Fascinating as these considerations are, for an even more explosive idea all you have to do is blend them with old-fashioned notions of clairvoyance and déjà vu. First coined by New Age spiritualist P.M.H. Atwater (née Phyllis Johnston), future memory is conceived of as the phenomenon whereby one can know the future.

With plain old prophetic foresight now repackaged in 21st Century techno-speak, science fiction writers are busy exploring the nexus between man and machine, self and other, reality and virtual reality. The gist of it all is pregnant with implication: if we are nothing but our memories; if our memories are but bits of data; if technology can capture these bits the same way it manipulates all other information; then what does it mean to be oneself?

Philip K. Dick touched on these very inquiries in his short story “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” Adapted into a kind of futuristic film noir under the title of Blade Runner, the theme centers on just what it means to be human in a world where very humanlike androids can be made.

Another film adapted from a Dick short is Total Recall, involving a federal agent’s manufactured memories. More recently, the Leonardo Dicaprio vehicle Deception also explored the same what-if scenarios: what if memories could be planted? Never mind data recovery; seems like technologies will one day create the need for deliberate information loss! And indeed, there are any number of science fiction stories devoted to that topic, too…

New York Value Neighborhoods

New York City is a great place to live if you have the funds to live in a great neighborhood. However, while rents are very high, industry experts like Isaac Toussie say that it is still possible to find fair honest deals where you get a lot of space in return, among other things. Many factors go into any consideration, such as convenience and access, look and feel, and noise levels. Here is a survey of some communities that offer a good balance of all these factors in relation to typical prices.

For the most part, we will consider only Queens and Brooklyn neighborhoods, as these are the ones that best fit our criteria for all-around value. The other boroughs are either too expensive or too run-down, as in the case of Manhattan and the Bronx, respectively, or just too remote and isolated, as with the case of Staten Island. Of course, the Bronx does have nice neighborhoods, too, but these are going to be expensive, and you’ll have to avoid the rest of your borough if you want to see something civilized. Industry observers like Isaac Toussie note that while Manhattan also has its pockets of urban blight, anything decent is going to be astronomically priced. Staten Island is just another world altogether and you might as well not bother living in New York City, then!

So Queens and Brooklyn it is. Brooklyn is by far the more storied of the two, with more offerings of high-brow culture if that’s important to you. Queens offers culinary adventurers the best experience outside Manhattan, with the most authentic tastes at any price. Queens also tends to be much more diverse, whereas Brooklyn practically invented the ethnic enclave. Finally, Queens schools are better on average, whereas Brooklyn’s, while good, trails far behind in overall comparison.

So what are these great “nabes” and where are they? Well, in Brooklyn you will want Williamsburg and Greenpoint for the bohemian scene. Good, real middle-class areas include Bensonhurst, Gravesend, Bath Beach, Bay Ridge, Fort Hamilton, and Midwood. Canarsie would have once made the cut but has been on its way down. Borough Park seems like an “in-between” situation and can still swing either way. Your basically upper middle-class places are Dyker Heights, Marine Park, Brighton Beach, and Sheepshead Bay.

In Queens the toniest nabes are Forest Hills and Kew Gardens. Almost as good are Flushing (and East Flushing) and Bayside. Astoria is known for its night life. Sunnyside, Woodside, Ridgewood, and Elmhurst (but avoid East Elmhurst) are more working-class but still often quite civilized to live in. Middle Village, Queens Village, Maspeth, and Juniper Valley are demographically between the working and (true) middle classes.

Outside these areas, you’ll probably want to avoid. We’ll cover those in another article. But suffice it to say, even the areas mentioned here can be undesirable on their “border areas,” where they abut the urban blight of the next neighborhood over, as implied in the case of Elmhurst and East Elmhurst mentioned earlier. So exercise all due diligence and thoroughly research a neighborhood with first-hand experience!

Credit Repair Companies The Real Help

When selecting a credit repair company that may help and give the best advice for credit repair as opposed to just handing you off to some series agency, make certain that it’s one that totally abides through the United States Credit Repair Organizations Act, or CROA for brief. This really is a established of stipulations passed by Congress back inside the middle from the 1990s to protect consumers from predatory procedures then prevalent within the industry.

A great credit repair business today should discharge all responsibilities below this law – which, incidentally, just isn’t technically an “Act” but a “Title” – Title IV, being precise, of the wider Customer Credit Safety Act, exactly where Section 401, however, particularly notes that that this arranged of legal prescriptions and proscriptions can without a doubt be referred to as the “Credit Repair Organizations Act.”

In any case, it can be certainly the law, and any credit repair organization worth doing enterprise with these days will abide by it – or this kind of a business is basically a fly-by-night operation. After all, what exactly is a credit repair company for but to make your life simpler? Especially in today’s economy, credit worthiness is definitely an specifically essential factor of contemporary existence.

But precisely because with the present economic tumult, credit reporting companies have raised the bar and what was regular yesterday is barely mediocre today. Numerous customers have found, practically overnight, that their once good-if-not-spectacular credit scores are suddenly not so excellent, precluding them from several of the conveniences and even outright options offered to others, options like a wide assortment of housing as well as some of the greatest jobs nevertheless close to!

Hence the role of the credit repair company is much more essential than actually before, and so all consumers should familiarize themselves with CROA stipulations while purchasing all around. Unscrupulous businesses can really result in you improved economic hardship through their unfair business methods, so make sure to study up on what CROA gives for! Like a brief introduction, know for now that CROA prohibits your becoming charged for any service not fully rendered.

It also allows you to change your thoughts after signing the contract inside of three days. Under CROA, you can not waive your rights, and should be notified that you simply may possibly nonetheless obtain private credit info on your own and also pursue credit repair efforts on your own. At a similar time, you may not lie about your credit historical past, or attempt to produce a brand new identity or credit file. CROA generally tried to safeguard you as a customer with out letting you off the hook for any debt owed.

Hopefully this can isolate the genuine credit companies through the real scammers who attempt as tough as they are able to to snake the helpless and send them to collection companies. This really is absolutely nothing being considering of since it can grow to be something very harmful if ignored for long sufficient.

Ear Plugs Versus Noise

Within today’s loud world of constant distraction, very few people stop to consider the means through which they understand all of this audible stimuli: the ears; and fewer still take the proper steps to shield their ears when they should, even using so simple as ear protection plugs. Obviously ear plugs sound like a goofy, not entirely necessary precaution in most conditions – and in a lot of cases, they aren’t necessary – but understanding the importance of your ears is key to protecting them.

Ears are certainly used for hearing and interpreting sound. Sound – which are waves of pressure traveling by means of a medium, whether it be air, water, or something else – is first “heard” when it is captured by the external ear (which is the seen part on either side of our head, and what we first think when we think of “ears”). These pressure waves, or sound, are then filtered through the outer parts of the ear until eventually they interact with the ear drum and inner ear (those parts of the organ found inside of your skull), where they stimulate hair cells, sending nervous signals to the brain. These signals are then construed as sound. Yes protection supplies come in numerous forms.

Due to the physically miniscule and sensitive nature of the ear, it is very susceptible to physically trauma, which can even be inflicted by the aggressive vibrations caused by excessive noise levels. Visualize a speaker system or a subwoofer: the way the speaker cones vibrate as they emit sound is similar to the way the small bones and tissues of the inner ear vibrate as they are stimulated by sound. And identical to a subwoofer or speaker can break under the stress of these vibrations at high volume, so too can the parts of the human ear. Sounds experienced at places like construction zones or rock concerts are effortlessly able to damage the ear over long durations of exposure. By simply blocking such sounds from entering the ear, ear plugs can prevent this.

Aside from protecting your actual capacity to hear, the protection offered by ear plugs also saves another essential function of the ears that is significantly less obvious: one’s sense of balance. Actually, balance is one of the two principal reasons that mammals generally have two ears (the other is that two ears enable us to locate the source of sounds by localizing them, related to the way two working eyeballs enable depth perception). Deep inside the interior ear are the organs responsible for determining one’s orientation to gravity, and a sense of steadiness.

Very small fluid filled sacks send nerve signals to the brain which usually interprets these signals to establish a sense of physical orientation against the background environment. Since the fluid inside these sacks is subject to the identical laws of gravity as the rest of the body, the brain can interpret their orientation the same way you could possibly if you spotted a soda bottle half filled. Regardless of what angle you look at it, you can decide a sense of up and down by seeing in which direction gravity pulls the remaining fluid inside the bottle.

The Craftsmenship Behind A Bronze Sclupture

From Greek vases to Italian marble statues, people just can’t get enough of quality museum replicas for their homes and offices. It is small wonder, of course, that folks should wish to surround themselves with timeless classic beauty. Indeed, museum replicas can lend elegance and even authority – the authority of tradition, the gravitas of high culture – to any setting, imbuing a sense of importance to one’s own endeavors in such an environment.

Bronze sculpture is also popular among museum replica connoisseurs for just those reasons. Do not laugh; it is true. Such showpieces symbolize one’s erudition and, even, personal nobility. Art definitely communicates those qualities, anyway, on behalf of their owners. And here’s the curious thing: it all sounds so crass, ironically, given the high-minded perception that normally surrounds art!

The very act of wishing to link oneself with some past glory seems pretentious at best and downright absurd at worst. Yet it’s a fine line between true aesthetic appreciation of the informed sort and mere stylish accessorizing of one’s residence or workplace.

Museum replicas let us all to play the part of a refined collector of antiques – not “antiques” in the now commonly debased sense of someone’s grandmother’s grandmother’s quilt abandoned at a yard sale, but treasures of the ancients now ours to enjoy. The pottery of ancient Greece is not only stunning but bear witness to one of the most intellectually remarkable civilizations of humankind.

And who has not gasped at the craftsmanship of a David, an Augustus Caesar, or an Ecstasy of Saint Teresa? These are some of the most prized examples of Italian inspiration anywhere, for all time, and owing one puts us in touch with the human potential for imagination, the cultural heritage of our species. They lift us from the everyday into a realm of the spirit.

The Way Office Water Delivery Works

From the time of its invention, the water cooler – and subsequently, office water delivery – has been a everlasting fixture in the modern day office environment. Instead of a water fountain – which itself has its own cultural associations and connotations, even as a image of the American civil rights movement, another story for another time – many offices prefer the use of a free-standing water cooler fitted with the easily recognizable five gallon tanks placed to the top. In reality, this is what gives office water delivery its title, in that these five gallon jugs are actually delivered by truck to the office, generally on a regular basis and usually in exchange for the empty jugs left from the previous month.

The preference for water for the office delivery and these free-standing units is usually one of function over form. Through there are the usual logistical aggrevations of having to literally manipulate the heavy, five gallon jugs acquired by office water delivery, the features of the unit itself more than make up for it. Whereas a water fountain generally only offers cooled water out of an individual spout, water coolers usually have a number of spouts, usually two or three. Needless to say there is the basic spout, which when operated with a simple lever delivers cold water, but it is not uncommon to find models with spouts for room temperature water, or even extremely hot, almost boiling water – perfect for use in making tea or fast coffee.

Other than functionality, sanitation is a common reason for preference of office water delivery over locally available tap water through a water fountain. The fairly sizable, free-standing units are frequently laden with various water purification technologies which, in addition to the large jugs of water that happen to be already sanitized and purified at their bottling plants, make for the purest water available. Normally office water coolers use some form of activated carbon filtering, which uses specially treated charcoal to filter larger impurities (salts, dissolved inorganic compounds, etc) coming from the water.

In latest years, it has also been common for these units to be fitted with some kind of ultraviolent light treatment, which usually eliminates what might be left over after charcoal filtering: dissolved organic compounds, bacteria, and so on.

Though incredibly easy in design and purpose, the insufferable banality of the modern day office cubical labyrinth has made the ubiquitous water cooler a sort of social hub at the office. So recognizable is this fact that colloquial terms like “water cooler show” have been coined off of it, in reference to the sort of trite dialogue about well-liked culture expected amongst employees gathering around the unit. Even the phrase “word around the water cooler” in reference to rumors or gossip has entered the cultural lexicon. Interesting that such an oddly ordinary things as office water delivery could be, in a way, responsible for such widely familiar cultural phenomena.

A Variety Of Horse Racing Systems

In the popular culture, horse racing tips have traditionally been akin to great Florida real estate deals or fantastic bridge sales in Brooklyn. But the web has allowed for the proliferation of computerized horse racing systems, not simple programs that ran your input through a set of magical algorithms but dedicated servers that can be contacted in real-time for near instantaneous updates right from the track.

Best of all, modern racing systems like these enable you to bet anytime, anywhere – even at work (or church!), as long as an internet connection is available. Evidently working on somewhat similar models that has been successfully utilized by the hobbyist day trader, you can now bet and seriously handicap your game thanks to the power of 21st Century “cloud computing.”

Precise details are understandably vague, as no one likes to divulge trade secrets, but what is claimed are numerous advantages: real year-long staking records, consistent profits, and better than three-fourths strike rates. Such near-miraculous outcomes come from a close analysis of a number of factors, for instance the ages of the runners, the classes involved, as well as the overall number of competitors in the field. The main difference, besides any improved methodologies, seems to be an ongoing maintenance that ever fine-tunes performance and results.

Also unlike the old handicapping programs of old models, it is no longer a basic matter of paying for software once. This kind of a powerful service can only be feasible under a subscription model, as ongoing improvements need to be made. Essentially, it’s like hiring a money manager for one’s portfolio of stocks and bonds and other holdings – only we’re talking horse racing here! Finally, in the spirit of our times, try-before-you-buy trials are available. It’s now possible to easily see for yourself whether the horse racing system actually works!

Get The Most Out Of Selling Your Company

To sell your company is one of the most gut-wrenching decisions you will ever face as an entrepreneur. Even without any sentimentality on your part – all the round-the-clock research, all of the round-the-clock legwork, all that heavy lifting, now come to this, washing your hands of it all – the prospect of timing it all just right can be nerve-wracking. You’ll feel like some television game show guest, at a pivotal moment during you can opt to cash out or stay on for more.

Except it’s even worse than that! For there are a hundred and one factors involved once you want to sell your company, so many different variables at play – just like when you first started up the business, come to think of it!

And if you have any venture capital on board, good luck; your investors will generally be the first to cash out and get their cut (unless they’re, rather more simply, buying out your share).

For example, let’s say you own a full one hundred percent of your business and wish to sell your company but you haven’t yet looked into what it could be worth because you’ve been too busy basically growing the business (unless you’re one of these serial entrepreneurs who love to start up firms but hate to run them once things settle down).

You’ve now arrived at one of these so-called inflection points, a time when getting the company to the next stage of success involves considerable risk and lots of time and money. If you were unlucky enough to have desperately needed investors, you’ll need to first double revenues and pray for stable market conditions to ensure that you can make as much money on a sale as you could have without those investors – who, remember, will want their cut first.

Lower the Pressure withPressure Seal Equipment

Pressure Seal Equipment works by folding a special piece of paper, then using mechanical Pressure to physically force the paper’s pre-glued edges to bind in this kind of a way that the paper serves as its own fully sealed envelope. Pressure Seal Equipment creates one-piece mailers of this kind which are extremely helpful for payroll checks, rebate forms, customer invoices, or anything else requiring a higher than average degree of confidentiality when going by means of the postal system. Direct mail marketing campaigns also often employ this kind of hardware to create promotional materials that seem extremely official and essential.

Pressure Seal Equipment is typically a lot more cost-effective than insertion machines or, obviously, old-fashioned folding and stuffing by hand – not to mention sealing by tongue, rubbing your tongue raw like a cat’s by licking pre-glued envelope flaps! Indeed, just print from your personal computer through a program such as QuickBooks and feed the output through one and it’s done, with nothing much more to worry about. It can be really a minimally complicated system. Speaking of worries, Pressure Seal Equipment virtually eliminates the risk of error for example enclosing too much or not enough with the materials to be sent by automating such routine tasks. Entry-level Pressure Seal Equipment is epitomized by the Formax AutoSeal FD 1500, which is a tabletop machine that can generate one-piece mailers for moderate-volume environments. It can process up to eighty-five paperwork a minute and features a monthly duty cycle of twenty thousand docs. This means that the machine is rated to handle no much more than twenty thousand jobs a month – hence the “moderate-volume” description just given. Not that it will simply break down if used to generate more than twenty thousand mailers a month, but that the manufacturer only guarantees reliability with that level of a workload placed on it. Thus it can be nicely situated between the home user and a little company, something that’s economical but reliable.

The paper created for use with these machines includes a narrow strip of pressure-sensitive adhesive called “Cohesive” given that glue is applied to both sides of these strips. Making use of these narrow bands of pressure-sensitive adhesive to create totally secure seals that totally eliminate the require for envelopes, Pressure Seal Equipment like the FD 1500 can accept paperwork up to fourteen inches in height or width. The Formax 402 Series Jogger is accessible as an alternative that allows it to automatically align and square any document. It includes a top-fed three-roller program to ensure smooth jam-free feeding of those docs through the hardware, and an eighteen-inch conveyor belt to keep everything in neat sequential order. A six-digit resettable counter and locking cabinet for types set on casters round out the rich feature-set of this machine that aims to pays for itself with increased productivity and operational efficiency straight out of the box.
